Junior Safety Officer / Junior HSE Officer

Role & responsibilities

Site Safety Monitoring

• Conduct regular site inspections and hazard identifications under supervision.
• Ensure all site personnel follow safety rules and wear the prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Identify and immediately stop any unsafe work, reporting findings to the Senior Safety Officer or Project Manager.

HSE Induction & Training

• Assist in organizing safety training and toolbox talks for workers.
• Participate in safety meetings and help raise awareness on safety practices, first aid, fire prevention, and emergency procedures.

Documentation & Record Maintenance

• Help maintain safety records, inspection reports, incident logs, and PPE issuance.
• Prepare and update safety checklists and daily safety observation reports.

Accident / Incident Reporting

• Assist in reporting and investigating near-misses, incidents, and accidents.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions, and follow up on their implementation.

Fire & Emergency Preparedness

• Conduct inspections of fire-fighting equipment, first aid kits, and emergency exits.
• Support emergency drills and ensure proper safety signage and barricades are in place.

Environmental & Housekeeping Monitoring

• Monitor waste disposal, dust suppression, and noise levels.
• Ensure good housekeeping across work areas and report environmental hazards.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors to ensure HSE compliance.
• Report daily to the HSE Officer and assist in monthly HSE performance reports.
• Promote a safety-first culture.

Preferred candidate profile

• Basic knowledge of construction safety practices, local safety regulations, and PPE.
• Familiarity with conducting risk assessments and safety inspections.
• Strong observation and reporting skills.
• Ability to communicate safety instructions clearly to site workers.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office) for report writing and documentation.
• Physically fit and able to work on a construction site.
