Junior DevOps Engineer

Roles Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day administration and maintenance of Linux servers and infrastructure.
• Support deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of applications across development, testing, and production environments.
• Learn and follow DevOps best practices for infrastructure management and application deployments.
• Assist in maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Perform basic operational tasks such as user management, package installation, log analysis, and service monitoring.
• Support containerized application deployments using Docker.
• Work with version control systems (Git) to manage source code and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to resolve infrastructure and deployment issues.
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and documentation of operational procedures.
• Continuously learn new DevOps tools, cloud services, and automation practices.

Skills Required

• Strong foundation in Linux administration, including file systems, permissions, processes, services, networking commands, and shell basics.
• Strong understanding of AWS fundamentals, including EC2, VPC, IAM, EBS, S3, Security Groups, Load Balancers, and CloudWatch.
• Basic understanding of computer networking, including IP addressing, subnetting, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, routing, firewalls, and common network troubleshooting commands.
• Basic knowledge of Git, including repositories, branching, commits, merges, pull requests, and resolving simple merge conflicts.
• Basic knowledge of Docker, including images, containers, Dockerfiles, Docker Compose, image management, and container lifecycle.
• Familiarity with Bash scripting is an added advantage.
• Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and the software development lifecycle.
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving DevOps practices.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.

Added Advantage

• Experience or exposure to Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Ansible for configuration management and automation.
• Understanding of Kubernetes (K8s) fundamentals, including Pods, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, and YAML manifests.
• Exposure to Argo CD for GitOps-based application deployment.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
• Basic understanding of container orchestration and cloud-native application deployment.
