Job Summary : The Junior Site Mechanical Engineer will assist in the planning, supervision, and execution of mechanical equipment erection and commissioning activities at the project site. The role primarily involves working on distillery plants, evaporators, and auxiliary systems to ensure smooth installation, quality control, and project delivery within timelines.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist in mechanical erection of distillery and evaporator equipment (columns, piping, pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, etc.).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and GA drawings.
- Supervise the fabrication and installation of mechanical components at the site.
- Support commissioning activities such as equipment trials, load tests, and system fine-tuning.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
- Assist senior engineers in achieving operational readiness for plant start-up.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders for timely execution of projects.
- Monitor site progress, quality checks, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports and escalate issues to the Project Manager.
- Ensure the mechanical works comply with design specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines.
- Provide technical support to the team during the installation and commissioning phase.
- Assist in problem-solving by coordinating with design teams, vendors, and site stakeholders.
Skills and Competencies :
- Familiarity with mechanical equipment such as evaporators, condensers, tanks, piping systems, pumps, etc.
- Basic understanding of mechanical standards, welding, and fabrication processes.
- GA, P&ID, Layout reading.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, or equivalent tools for reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office for reporting and documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve site issues during erection and commissioning.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with contractors, vendors, and team members.
- Willingness to work on-site under varying conditions and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Commitment to maintaining safety standards and guidelines during project execution.
- Completion of mechanical erection and commissioning as per project timelines.
- Ensure quality and safety adherence at the project site.
- Submit daily/weekly progress reports and updates.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Qualification : Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience : 1 3 years of experience in erection, installation, and commissioning of mechanical equipment, preferably in distilleries, evaporators, dryer or process plants.
