Job Summary
The Fabrication Production Engineer is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end fabrication process, ensuring production efficiency, quality, and adherence to timelines. This role involves close collaboration with the design, quality, and procurement teams to streamline workflows, resolve technical challenges, and deliver high-quality outputs that meet client and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities 1. Production Oversight Supervise daily production activities in the fabrication shop, ensuring optimal utilization of labor, machinery, and materials.
Monitor fabrication processes for conformance to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Ensure production targets and deadlines are consistently achieved.
Identify areas for improving fabrication techniques, processes, and workflows.
Implement lean manufacturing principles to minimize waste and optimize output.
Recommend and execute process improvements for safety, quality, and productivity.
Collaborate with quality control teams to maintain high product quality standards.
Conduct inspections of fabricated components to ensure compliance with specifications.
Address quality issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Provide technical guidance to the production team for resolving fabrication challenges.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications for accurate execution.
Work with design engineers to resolve discrepancies or technical issues.
Oversee proper operation, maintenance, and calibration of fabrication equipment.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
Assess requirements for equipment upgrades or new installations.
Coordinate with procurement to ensure material availability for uninterrupted production.
Manage raw material inventory levels to prevent delays.
Ensure proper handling and storage of materials for safety and quality.
Enforce adherence to workplace safety standards and regulations.
Conduct safety audits and address potential hazards with corrective actions.
Promote a safety-first culture within the production team.
Work with cross-functional teams including design, quality, procurement, and logistics.
Lead and mentor the fabrication team, ensuring a collaborative work environment.
Train staff on best practices, technical skills, and safety protocols.
Prepare production reports covering progress, material usage, and equipment performance.
Maintain records of production, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
Present performance data and recommend improvements to senior management.
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
3 5 years of experience in fabrication production, manufacturing engineering, or similar roles.
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and machinery.
Experience in interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Proficiency in CAD software and production planning tools.
Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control standards.
Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of fabrication methods, machinery, and tools.
Problem-Solving: Quick resolution of production challenges with effective solutions.
Project Management: Skilled in managing timelines, resources, and schedules.
Attention to Detail: High accuracy in quality checks and documentation.
Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate production teams.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication for internal and external coordination.
Based primarily in a fabrication shop or production facility, with some office-based tasks.
Regular exposure to heavy machinery and manufacturing environments with strict safety protocols.
May require occasional travel or fieldwork depending on project needs.
