Java Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Working within the Resilience Scrum Team, you will be responsible for upgrading and modernising a large estate of legacy Java applications and integration services, helping improve the resilience, security, and long-term sustainability of the platform. Day to day, you will develop and enhance applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot, resolve security vulnerabilities, and support the migration of applications to LSEG's new enterprise secrets management architecture. You will work closely with architects, security teams, DevOps engineers, product stakeholders, and fellow developers to design, build, test, and deploy solutions. The role will involve supporting production releases, troubleshooting issues, executing functional and regression testing, contributing to Agile ceremonies, producing technical documentation, and ensuring effective knowledge transfer to support teams. The focus is on delivering secure, resilient, and production-ready solutions across a critical financial services platform.

Must-Haves

6-8+ years of commercial Java development experience.

Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.

Proven experience upgrading, modernising, and supporting legacy Java applications.

Experience identifying and remediating application security vulnerabilities.

Strong understanding of enterprise application integration and distributed systems.

Experience supporting testing, deployments, and production releases.

Previous experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams.

Strong documentation skills with the ability to create solution designs, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.

Plusses

Financial Services, Capital Markets, Clearing, or Trading platform experience.

Exposure to secrets management technologies and credential management frameworks.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Knowledge of resilience engineering, availability, and operational risk principles.

Cloud platform exposure.

Experience supporting large-scale application modernisation or transformation programmes.

Experience conducting structured knowledge transfer and team enablement activities.

Exposure to high-availability platforms with strict uptime and operational resilience requirements.
