Java Developer + Rest API

Key responsibilities:

• Design and build REST APIs following OpenAPI/contract-first standards and ensuring MCP compatibility 
• Implement authentication, authorization, and API gateway integration (OAuth2, JWT, rate limiting)
• Build both request/response and streaming API endpoints for data delivery, including large/bulk result sets
• Query and retrieve data from large-scale data lakes, translating data structures into clean API responses
• Work with modern data-transport protocols (HTTP/2, Apache Arrow Flight is a plus) to optimize data delivery performance
• Contribute to API design decisions during early project phases
• Work within an AI-agent-first development model, directing and reviewing AI-generated code/specs
• Independently engage with stakeholders and finalize requirements in a timely manner
  
  Skills and Experience:
• Self-motivated, collaborative individual with passion for excellence
• Strong Java (17+) development experience with Quarkus or Spring Boot
• Strong REST API design and implementation skills, including OpenAPI/contract-first development and MCP knowledge
• Experience building streaming APIs and handling large/async data payloads
• Good working knowledge of HTTP/2
• Apache Arrow Flight experience is a big plus
• Good understanding of querying and working with large datasets (data lake / Apache Iceberg experience a plus)
• Experience with GCP (GKE, IAM, networking)
• OAuth2/JWT and API gateway experience (Apigee a plus)
• CI/CD and containerized deployments
• Strong testing discipline (unit + integration)
• Comfortable working with AI coding assistants as part of the development workflow
