Java Backend Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Backend Java Developer with strong expertise in building scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications. The ideal candidate is passionate about hands-on engineering, modern backend architectures, distributed systems, and solving complex technical challenges.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys coding, contributing to architectural discussions, and has the ambition to grow into a Solution Architect role over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance scalable microservices-based architectures.
• Develop event-driven and asynchronous systems using Kafka.
• Work closely with cloud-native deployments and AWS services.
• Design robust APIs and backend integrations for enterprise-grade applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, DevOps engineers, architects, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Participate in system design discussions, technical planning, and solution reviews.
• Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, and deployment automation.
• Take ownership of technical delivery while remaining deeply hands-on.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8 10 years of strong backend development experience using Java.
• Excellent experience with Spring Boot and Microservices architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka.
• Good experience working with AWS cloud services.
• Strong understanding of containerisation using Docker.
• Experience with Kubernetes orchestration and deployment.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, distributed systems, and scalable application design.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong debugging, performance tuning, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder interaction skills.
• Ability to work independently in fast-paced enterprise environments.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure (not mandatory) to large-scale enterprise or financial services environments.
• Experience with event-driven architecture patterns.
• Exposure to observability and monitoring tools.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
