Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer Lead with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and cloud-native application development. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading development teams, driving technical solutions, and delivering scalable enterprise applications. This role requires hands-on development, architecture contribution, mentoring team members, and close collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.

Future Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable backend applications using Java (17+) and Spring Boot Microservices.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs, event-driven services, and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to define technical solutions and implementation strategies.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and software engineering best practices.
• Drive code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decision-making.
• Work closely with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers and support their technical growth.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, estimations, and release planning.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in Java (17+) and Spring Boot.
• Extensive hands-on experience in Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems.
• Strong expertise in REST API development and integration.
• Experience with SQL/Oracle databases, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Good understanding of messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or JMS.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis or Hazelcast.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, or Dynatrace.

Leadership Skills

• Proven experience leading and mentoring development teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to drive technical decisions and influence architecture discussions.
• Experience managing deliverables across multiple workstreams.

Agile & Delivery

• Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Ability to manage sprint commitments, risks, dependencies, and release planning.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance domains.
• Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Experience with Angular or React-based frontend integration.
• Knowledge of Security best practices including OAuth2, JWT, and API security.
• Relevant cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP) are a plus.
