Java Architect

Role Overview

We are hiring a Java Architect with strong database expertise to anchor the architecture and engineering practice for CX1 PIM. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with end-to-end ownership of the Java application architecture, database design, performance optimization, and integration patterns across the platform. The Architect will partner closely with Engineering Management, Product, DevOps, and DBA teams to drive the CX1 PIM Re-Architecture program, the next phase of multilingual capability expansion, AI Agent integrations, and the ongoing MySQL work.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end Java application architecture for CX1 PIM service decomposition, integration patterns, performance, scalability, and security.
• Define and govern the database architecture (MySQL primary, Solr secondary) schema design, indexing strategy, stored procedure governance, partitioning, replication, and tuning for catalogs in the millions of items range.
• Lead the CX1 PIM Re-Architecture initiative.
• Partner with the DBA team on production readiness.
• Lead architecture decisions for AI Agent integrations.
• Conduct code reviews on critical paths stored procedures, customer-facing APIs.
• Mentor and grow senior engineers; establish engineering practices (testing, observability, error budgets).
• Support production incident response root cause analysis, durable fixes.

Required Skills Experience

• 10 14 years of overall software engineering experience with at least 3 5 years in an Architect / Principal Engineer role.
• Expert-level Java (Java 21+), Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security), Hibernate, jOOQ / JPA.
• Deep experience designing distributed, multi-tenant SaaS systems handling large data volumes (catalogs with millions of items).
• Microservices, REST API design, asynchronous messaging (RabbitMQ or Kafka or equivalent), caching strategies (Redis).
• Strong fundamentals in concurrency, performance tuning, JVM internals, profiling, and memory management.

Database

• Expert in relational database design MySQL (primary) with strong knowledge of stored procedures, partitioning, replication, indexing, and query optimization.
• Working knowledge of Solr (or Elasticsearch) for search and indexing workloads.
• Proven experience designing data models for product information management, multilingual content, or catalog-heavy systems.
• Experience with database migration, version-control of schema changes (Liquibase / Flyway), and zero-downtime upgrade strategies.
• Familiarity with NoSQL stores is a plus.

Architecture Practice

• Hands-on experience leading a multi-quarter architecture or re-platforming initiative end-to-end.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Leadership Soft Skills

• Proven track record of mentoring senior engineers and influencing technical decisions across teams.
• Comfortable working with Product, PS, DBA
