About the role

Swiggy Instamart runs a large, fast-moving network of Dark Stores (PODs) that hold and move

inventory at high velocity. Keeping that inventory accurate and protected, and understanding why it

sometimes does not add up, is a real operational challenge that a checklist or a desk review rarely

solves.

The Inventory Assurance Auditor is part of an independent assurance team that goes into PODs,

finds the real, on-ground reasons behind inventory gaps, and works with operations teams to fix

them and make the fixes hold. This is an investigative, field-heavy role, not a compliance or

surveillance role. You will spend most of your time inside PODs, on the floor, walking stock flows

and talking to the people who run them.

You are measured on outcomes. The single most important question for this role is simple: did

inventory accuracy improve and losses come down at the PODs you worked? Audits completed do

not count. Results do.

Where you will spend your time

This is a ground role. Expect to spend roughly 80 percent of your working time physically inside

PODs across the city, not in an office. A typical week is several full days at assigned PODs,

walking the floor, observing live operations, checking physical stock against the system, and

meeting Store Managers and associates. Comfort with daily intra-city travel and long hours on your

feet in a warehouse environment is essential.

Key responsibilities

Diagnose:

• Go into each assigned POD with a clear, data-backed view of what is likely going wrong, and

a specific set of questions to answer, rather than a generic checklist.

• Trace inventory end to end for priority categories flagged for review: how stock is received, put

away, picked, adjusted, and written off, and where it goes missing.

• Physically verify stock against the system, run targeted counts, and check that locations and

quantities on the floor match what the system shows.

• Speak directly with Store Managers, security/loss-prevention staff, and floor associates to

separate genuine root causes from standard operational excuses.

• Study well-performing PODs to document what good looks like and what can be copied

elsewhere.

Fix: work with operations to close the gaps

• Work alongside POD operations teams on the ground to correct what you find, including

inventory and location accuracy, and process breaks at specific loss points such as inwarding,

putaway, damage handling, and stock adjustments.

• Translate practices proven at strong PODs into practical fixes for weaker ones, instead of

applying a one-size-fits-all playbook.

• Raise genuine resourcing or process gaps with clear, data-backed evidence, and challenge

claims that the data does not support.

• Document accountability gaps clearly and escalate them through an independent reporting

line.

Follow up and track: make sure improvements hold

• Revisit each POD after the fix and verify that the corrections are still in place and being

followed.

• Track before-and-after performance on the metrics that flagged the POD, including pilferage,

stock adjustments, damage, and order accuracy.

• Hold the relevant operations owners accountable for the numbers and the reasons behind

them, and escalate PODs that are not improving.

• Maintain clean, accurate records of findings, actions, and outcomes for every POD covered.

What you will need

• A graduate degree in any discipline.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in inventory audit, stock control, retail or warehouse loss

prevention, supply-chain operations, or quick-commerce/retail operations.

• Hands-on experience with physical stock audits, cycle counts, or inventory reconciliation.
• Strong investigative instinct: the ability to notice when numbers and reality do not match, and

the persistence to find out why.

• Comfort working with data: reading POD-level reports and tracking metrics before and after

intervention in Excel or Google Sheets. You do not need to be an analyst, but you must be

comfortable with numbers.

• Willingness to be on the ground every day, with significant intra-city travel and long hours

inside warehouse-style environments.

• Clear, direct communication and the confidence to report findings honestly, even when they

are inconvenient for the people being audited.

• Fluency in English and the local language (Kannada for Bengaluru)

Good to have

• Prior experience in quick-commerce, e-commerce, retail, or 3PL warehouse operations.
• Exposure to inventory or warehouse management systems and barcode/scanner-based stock

processes.

• A two-wheeler and valid driving licence for city travel.

What success looks like

• Measurable reduction in inventory losses at the PODs you are responsible for.
• Clear, evidenced root-cause findings for every POD covered, not just a list of checklist

failures.
