Qualification
Bachelor s / Diploma Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Additional Qualification
- ASNT/ISO NDT Level II (MT, PT, UT, RT) Mandatory.
- ISO 9001: QMS Lead Auditor certification is an advantage.
Experience
5 to 10 Years Post Qualification experience in inspection / QA-QC activities
Job Responsibility
- Perform inspection of rotary equipment such as different types of Pumps and Compressors, Turbines, Gearboxes, Blowers, Mixers, and related drive systems.
- Verify material certificates (MTCs), traceability, dimensional checks, and mechanical integrity.
- Witness shop and site activities including:
Hydrostatic Test
Mechanical Run Test (MRT)
Performance test
No-load load Testing
Vibration Analysis
Balancing Test
Alignment Verification
FAT Inspection - Review and verify fabrication, machining, assembly, and equipment preservation processes.
- Review and approve vendor quality documents (ITPs, QCPs, WPS/PQR, Applicable Procedures, NCR/CAR).
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (API, ASME, ISO etc.).
- Prepare detailed inspection reports with non-conformity findings and recommended corrective actions.
- Review and validate vendor inspection test reports
Validate final documentation packages (as-built drawings, FAT reports, and certificates). - Coordinate with client representatives, vendors, and contractors to schedule inspections.
- Participate in pre-inspection meetings (PIM) and technical clarification meetings.
- Ensure timely communication of inspection findings to project QA/QC team
Attributes
- Strong knowledge of API Codes (API 610, API 611, API 612, API 617, API 618, API 672, API 685, etc.).
- Strong mechanical knowledge of pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, and rotating machinery.
- Understanding of API/ASME/ISO standards (e.g., API 610, API 617, ASME VIII)
Proficiency in inspection techniques, including dimensional checks, vibration assessment, alignment verification, and performance testing. - Ability to read and interpret engineering documents such as PIDs, datasheets, drawings, and ITPs.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for rotary equipment.
- Familiarity with NDT methods (MT, PT, UT RT) and quality control practices.
- Attention to detail to identify defects, deviations, and non-conformities.
- Strong analytical reasoning for evaluating test results and technical data.
- High integrity and decision-making as a third-party representative.
- Strong communication skills for reporting, coordinating, and interfacing with clients/vendors.
- Candidates currently working with Third Party Inspection agency will have an added advantage.
