Job Description

Fully remote - This is 12 Months duration role (12 months to start likely to extend or be ongoing)

Work time zone UK hours with overlapping US hours (Flexibility to provide extended hours and weekend support, as required, is essential)

Role: Senior Network Engineer

Location: Remote, India

10+ Years of Network Engineer

Senior-level Network Engineer with deep hands-on experience in enterprise data center networking, end-to-end network deployment, and network design and architecture.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in designing, implementing, and deploying large-scale data center environments, including core network infrastructure, routing and switching, high availability, migration activities, and complex network transformations. They are looking for someone who has led enterprise deployment projects, can work independently with minimal oversight, and has extensive experience delivering data center network solutions from design through implementation.

Data Center / Routing & Switching

1. OEM alignment

The client's estate is primarily built on Cisco, F5, and Fortinet. Please prioritize candidates who can clearly demonstrate hands-on design and/or deployment experience on these specific OEMs - not just certifications or passing mentions. Experience heavily concentrated on other vendors (e.g., Huawei) without clear Cisco/F5/Fortinet exposure will not be a fit.

2. Enterprise scale

Skills alignment alone isn't sufficient - the client needs confidence that candidates have operated in large-scale, multi-site, high-complexity enterprise environments, not smaller campus or single-site networks. Please look for candidates who can speak to specifics such as number of sites, device count, or estate size, rather than general "enterprise" claims.

3. Design vs. delivery balance

Given the role title, ideal candidates should show genuine design ownership (HLD/LLD, architecture decisions, technology refresh/migration planning) alongside delivery/implementation experience - not purely operational or support-ticket-driven work.

4. Regulated industry exposure (nice to have)

Experience in banking, financial services, or similarly regulated large enterprises will strengthen a profile, though it's not mandatory.

This is a senior, delivery-focused Network Engineering role within a global network engineering team responsible for the design, implementation, and migration of complex network infrastructure worldwide. This is not an operational support position — you will be a technical heavyweight brought in to do the heavy lifting on strategic projects, plugging into cross-functional programmes that demand deep engineering expertise across multiple disciplines.

The team operates on a project-based model, deploying engineers against specific technology initiatives as they arise. To succeed in this role you will need proven strength in at least two of the four core specialisms below, with solid working knowledge across the others. Candidates holding CCNP-level capability or above — or equivalent demonstrable hands-on expertise — are strongly preferred. CCIE or equivalent is highly desirable.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a key technical contributor across global network programmes, your day-to-day will vary depending on active project demands. Typical engagements include:

  • Designing and delivering end-to-end network solutions for new infrastructure rollouts, technology refreshes, and global expansion programmes
  • Leading or contributing to complex migrations — platform upgrades, data centre relocations, technology transitions — with full ownership of design and cutover execution
  • Producing high- and low-level designs (HLD/LLD), solution documentation, and as-built records to enterprise standard
  • Working across multiple concurrent projects, flexing between specialism areas as programme demands shift
  • Engaging directly with architects, project managers, and client-side technical teams to translate requirements into deliverable solutions
  • Providing senior technical input during pre-delivery phases — scoping, solution validation, risk identification, and design review
  • Performing implementation and testing in lab and live environments, including pre-change preparation, change execution, and post-change validation
  • Supporting knowledge transfer and documentation handover to operational teams on project completion

Core Specialism Areas

You must bring strong, hands-on delivery experience in at least ONE of the following four areas, and demonstrable only working knowledge across all four.

1. Firewall Engineering

  • Design and implementation of enterprise firewall solutions across perimeter, data centre, and segmentation use cases
  • Policy design, rule-base management, and firewall migrations (platform-to-platform and version upgrades)
  • Experience with leading platforms: Palo Alto Networks (Panorama, NGFW), Cisco Firepower/FTD, Fortinet FortiGate, or Check Point
  • Understanding of zero-trust principles, micro-segmentation, and secure network design patterns
  • NAT, VPN (IPsec/SSL), and inter-zone routing in complex multi-vendor environments

2. F5 Load Balancing & Application Delivery

  • Design and implementation of F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM/DNS solutions in enterprise and data centre environments
  • Virtual server design, pool configuration, health monitoring, persistence profiles, and traffic policy management
  • SSL/TLS offload, iRules, iApps, and application-layer traffic manipulation
  • GTM/DNS wide-IP design for global load balancing and disaster recovery failover
  • F5 migrations, upgrades, and HA pair configuration in production environments

3. Data Centre, Routing & Switching

  • Design and delivery of data centre network fabrics including spine-leaf architecture, VXLAN/EVPN, and overlay networks
  • Advanced routing protocol engineering: BGP (iBGP/eBGP, policy, communities), OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS in large-scale environments
  • Campus and enterprise switching: VLANs, STP/RSTP, port-channels, QoS, and access layer design
  • Data centre switching platforms: Cisco Nexus, Arista EOS, or equivalent
  • SD-WAN design and deployment (Cisco SD-WAN/Viptela, VMware VeloCloud, or similar)

4. DDI Engineering (DNS, DHCP & IPAM)

  • Architecture, deployment, and engineering of enterprise DDI platforms — primarily Infoblox NIOS and/or BloxOne DDI — across multi-site, multi-tenant environments
  • Advanced DNS engineering: zone design and delegation, split-horizon DNS, DNSSEC, RPZ (Response Policy Zones), forwarder configuration, and authoritative/recursive DNS infrastructure
  • IPAM design and management: IP address hierarchy, subnet allocation, network discovery, reconciliation, and conflict resolution at enterprise scale
  • DHCP scope design, failover pair configuration, option management, and lease troubleshooting across large-scale environments
  • DDI platform migrations and consolidations — including Cygna Labs QIP or VitalQIP to Infoblox migrations — with full design, data integrity validation, and cutover planning
  • Infoblox Grid architecture design, HA configuration, and distributed DDI services across hybrid and cloud-connected environments

Required Skills & Experience

  • CCNP-level or above in Routing & Switching, Security, or Data Centre — CCIE or equivalent highly desirable
  • Proven track record of delivering network projects end-to-end: design through to implementation and handover, not just operational support
  • Strong depth in at least two of the four specialism areas above, with good working knowledge across the others
  • Experience working in complex, multi-vendor enterprise or global network environments
  • Able to produce clear, accurate HLD/LLD documentation and present designs to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable working in a project-based model — managing your own workload across concurrent engagements, adapting as priorities shift
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; able to engage credibly at senior technical and project levels
  • Experience of network change management processes, including change design, risk assessment, and post-change review

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to cloud networking — AWS, Azure, or GCP — and hybrid connectivity design (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, VPN)
  • Experience with network automation tooling (Ansible, Python/Netmiko, Terraform) applied to network delivery workflows
  • Familiarity with ITSM and change control frameworks (ServiceNow, ITIL)
  • Experience working across global, geographically distributed network environments spanning multiple regions
  • Prior experience in a consulting, professional services, or project delivery organisation
