InDesign JavaScript Developer

We are seeking a skilled InDesign JavaScript Developer with strong experience in Adobe InDesign ExtendScript (JavaScript) to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in automating InDesign workflows, creating custom scripts, and integrating publishing processes with external systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimize Adobe InDesign ExtendScript (JavaScript) scripts for document automation, layout generation and data extraction
• Build custom tools, panels, and automation workflows within the InDesign environment
• Integrate InDesign scripting workflows with external applications and services using Node.js, Python
• Troubleshoot and debug InDesign scripts and automate repetitive publishing tasks
• Work closely with production and editorial teams to gather requirements and translate them into scalable automation solutions
• Optimize performance of scripts for large-scale publishing and batch processing workloads
• Ensure compatibility with different versions of Adobe InDesign and update scripts as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Adobe InDesign ExtendScript (JavaScript)
• Strong understanding of InDesigns object model, scripting API, and automation workflows
• Proficiency in JavaScript for ExtendScript/Visual Code scripting
• Experience with Node.js for backend scripting
• Working knowledge of Python for data processing, automation, or system integration
• Familiarity with XML, JSON, CSV, and other structured data formats
• Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Knowledge of publishing workflows, print production, or template-based layout systems
