Job Description
Take round of every patientadmitted in ICU
Attend the consultant round andfollow their advice carefully
Collect report and inform keepthe consultant informed
Monitor and guide medicalofficer on duty and nursing staff
Inform new admission and newevent to the concerned consultant and follow their advice
Do procedure in ICU
Participate in academicactivities in ICU
Transport of patients onmechanical ventilation
Complete a brief admissionexamination of each patient when appropriate and document clinical findings
Ensure the highest standards ofpatient care for all patients attending/admitted to the hospital
Attend ward rounds withconsulting doctor, as required, and be available to discuss patient treatmentplans
Provide a 24-hour medicalservices within the hospital on an on-call basis permanently
Inform admitting Consultants ofchanges in medical conditions of patients and of relevant action taken
Follow the instructions ofconsultants for their specific regime for each individual patient
Perform clinical procedures asrequested by consultant
Visit patients as required atthe request of the nursing staff
Countersign any druginstructions given by consultants over the telephone and satisfy prescribingrequirements throughout the hospital, as requested by nursing staff by checkingtheir validity, safety and need
Visit all in-patients daily anddocument in clinical notes
To be familiar with allrelevant procedures/policies
Liaise closely with nursingstaff and other relevant clinical or administrative staff
Ensure that comprehensivehandover, with full patient rounds, has taken place at the beginning and end ofeach shifts
Ensure comprehensive, accurateand concise medical records are maintained for patients with and appropriatesigned and dated legible entry in patients medical record on every attendanceupon a patient
Arrange investigations,surgical treatment, medical treatment and discharge as directed by theRegistrar and/or consultant to which assigned
Ensure that discharge summariesand other correspondence are completed with minimum delay and that all suchcorrespondence is complete prior to leaving the unit
Participate in compulsoryHospital based training, ie, Fire, BLS/ACLS
Keep abreast of newdevelopments, skills, technology, and current literature in order to initiateand respond to changes in the work environment, eg data analysis, clinicalaudit, research etc
