About the Role

As the HR Business Partner, you will act as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to business leaders. You will be responsible for enabling business success through HR interventions in areas such as workforce planning, performance management, employee engagement, succession planning, and organizational development. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

Role Purpose

Strategic HR partner to Academicselevate teacher experience, performance, and compliance while enabling growth at speed.

Must-Haves (Non-Negotiable)

  • Engagement & Culture: Build a teacher engagement plan and culture charter; strong employer branding instincts.
  • Labour Law Depth: Hands-on with state Shops & Establishments, leave/working-hours compliance, and policy rollout.
  • Startup Velocity: Proven success in a fast-paced startup with a clear bias for action and urgency in execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate BU goals into people plans; coach leaders; act as a change agent for culture and org effectiveness.
  • Own the teacher engagement & culture charter; partner with TA/Brand to attract teacher talent.
  • PMS owner: run goal-setting mid-year calibration outcomes; ensure KRA/KPI quality and fairness.
  • First line for Employee Relations: address grievances, conduct/partner on investigations; uphold psychological safety.
  • Lead surveys insights action plans; run engagement programs (Onboarding, buddy/mentoring, R&R).
  • Ensure compliance with Shops & Establishments Acts (state-wise), leave/working-hours norms, POSH, and internal policies; keep policies current.
  • Partner with Payroll/Admin/IT on onboarding, asset control, and clean exits.
  • Own HR analytics dashboards for Acads (attrition, eNPS, performance, hiring); publish insights and drive decisions.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's in HR (or equivalent).
  • 35+ years as HRBP; edtech/teacher HRBP experience preferred.
  • Proficient with HRIS/GreytHR (or similar), Google Sheets/Excel, and PowerPoint.
