Job Description

Location: Bangalore (with pan-India oversight)

Industry Mandate: Oil & Gas


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and drive the company-wide HSE strategy, policies, systems, and objectives in alignment with business goals, client requirements, and applicable Indian statutory regulations.
  • Provide strategic and operational HSE leadership for pan-India projects, including refineries, Oil & Gas facilities, petrochemical plants, and large construction/project sites.
  • Ensure robust compliance management with all statutory requirements (Factories Act, EPA, OISD, PESO, State Pollution Control Boards, etc.) and international standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Act as the functional head for HSE governance, ensuring effective implementation of safety management systems across projects and closure of audit findings and NCRs.
  • Lead and oversee incident management frameworks, including high-potential incidents: investigation, root cause analysis, lessons learned, and preventive action implementation.
  • Plan and review internal HSE audits, inspections, and risk assessments across sites; monitor trends and drive continual improvement initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and functional guidance to regional HSE managers, safety officers, and site HSE teams to ensure consistent standards and capability development.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across the organization through leadership engagement, behavioural-based safety (BBS) programs, safety campaigns, and visible leadership.
  • Oversee fire safety strategy and emergency preparedness, including system audits, emergency response planning, mock drills, and coordination with fire authorities.
  • Serve as the primary interface with clients, statutory bodies, and external agencies for HSE compliance, audits, approvals, and reporting.
  • Develop and present HSE dashboards, KPIs, and performance reports for senior management and clients; proactively communicate key risks and mitigation plans
  • Support business leadership in HSE risk evaluation during bidding, project planning, and execution phases.

What Were Looking For:


  • Graduate or Postgraduate in Engineering / Science with 15+ years of progressive experience in HSE and Fire Management within Oil & Gas, refinery, petrochemical, or process industries.
  • Strong background in HSE leadership roles, managing multi-site and pan-India operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian statutory compliance, international standards, and client-driven HSE requirements.
  • Proven experience in safety management systems, incident investigations, PHA / HAZOP, audits, and emergency response planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and mentor teams in a matrix organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using HSE metrics and data-driven decision making.
  • Willingness to travel across India as required, while being based out of Bangalore.
  • High levels of integrity, strong communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, complex project environments.
