Housekeeping Staff / Hospital Cleaner
Salary: No fixed cap for the right candidate. Salary depends on experience and role fit.
We are looking for sincere, hardworking, physically fit, and responsible individuals to join our Housekeeping Sanitation team as Hospital Cleaners / Housekeeping Staff.
The selected candidates will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene across all areas of the hospital including wards, OPD areas, operation theatres, corridors, toilets, and utility zones in strict compliance with hospital infection control standards and biomedical waste management protocols.
Key Responsibilities
  • General Housekeeping:
    • Clean and mop all floors, corridors, staircases, waiting areas, OPD rooms, consultation rooms, and administrative areas on a regular scheduled basis using appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants.
    • Dust, wipe, and sanitize all surfaces including furniture, window sills, doors, door handles, light switches, and reception counters.
    • Ensure all hospital areas are free from dirt, dust, litter, stains, and foul odor at all times.
    • Clean and maintain all glass surfaces, windows, and partitions across the facility.
    • Empty and clean dustbins regularly; replace bin liners as per schedule.
    • Maintain cleanliness of the hospital entrance, lobby, and outdoor premises.
    • Report any damage to flooring, walls, furniture, or fixtures to the supervisor immediately.
  • Toilet Sanitation Duties:
    • Clean and sanitize all patient, staff, and visitor toilets and washrooms multiple times daily as per the cleaning schedule.
    • Scrub and disinfect toilet bowls, urinals, washbasins, taps, mirrors, tiles, and floors thoroughly using hospital-grade disinfectants.
    • Ensure all toilets are stocked with soap, hand wash, toilet paper, and other consumables at all times; report shortages to the supervisor.
    • Ensure all sanitation areas are free from blockages, bad odor, and unhygienic conditions.
    • Maintain toilet cleanliness checklist and sign off after every cleaning round.
  • Infection Control Biomedical Waste:
    • Follow all hospital infection control protocols strictly including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, aprons, and gumboots while cleaning.
    • Segregate waste strictly into color-coded bins yellow (infectious/biomedical), red (contaminated), blue (sharp waste), black (general waste) as per BMW (Biomedical Waste Management) rules.
    • Never mix biomedical waste with general waste under any circumstances.
    • Handle soiled linen, used disposables, and infectious waste with extreme caution and as per protocol.
    • Use correct dilutions of disinfectants and cleaning chemicals as instructed by the supervisor.
    • Participate in regular infection control training sessions conducted by the hospital.
  • OT / ICU / Special Area Cleaning:
    • Perform terminal cleaning and fumigation of Operation Theatres, ICU, and procedure rooms as per the established protocol and under supervision.
    • Follow strict entry and exit procedures for sterile zones.
    • Use only approved cleaning agents and methods in high-risk areas.
  • Equipment Supply Management:
    • Maintain all housekeeping equipment including mops, buckets, trolleys, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners in clean and working condition.
    • Report any damaged or non-functional cleaning equipment to the supervisor.
    • Use cleaning chemicals and consumables responsibly to avoid wastage.
    • Maintain daily housekeeping log and cleaning checklists as assigned.
  • General Conduct:
    • Always wear the prescribed uniform, ID card, and PPE while on duty.
    • Maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards at all times.
    • Be respectful and courteous to patients, visitors, and hospital staff at all times.
    • Report any suspicious activity, safety hazard, or maintenance issue to the supervisor immediately.
    • Be available to work in shifts including morning, afternoon, and night shifts as per hospital requirements.
    • Cooperate with the infection control team, nursing staff, and facility management team at all times.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8th or 10th standard pass (SSC) from any recognized board
  • No specific prior qualification required freshers are welcome.
  • Prior experience in housekeeping, sanitation, or cleaning in a hospital, hotel, or commercial establishment is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic understanding of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and housekeeping equipment safely.
  • Physically fit and capable of standing, walking, bending, and performing manual cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to work in all areas of the hospital including toilets, wards, OT zones, and utility areas.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere strictly to hospital protocols.
  • Good conduct, punctuality, and discipline.
  • Willingness to work in shifts morning, afternoon, and night.
  • Knowledge of Kannada preferred; Hindi understanding is an added advantage.
  • Candidates with prior hospital housekeeping experience will be given preference.
