Job Title: Quality Engineer Quality Assurance

Job Location: Velapanchavadi / Gummidipoondi, Chennai

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer Quality Assurance with a strong background in the automotive manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in quality systems, process audits, customer requirements, and continuous improvement activities to ensure product and process quality in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance systems and customer-specific requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
• Conduct process audits, layered process audits (LPA), and internal quality audits.
• Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Prepare and maintain quality documents such as Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, SOPs, and Work Instructions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and Poka-Yoke concepts.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Tool Room, and PPC teams to resolve quality-related issues.
• Monitor process capability using SPC and recommend process improvements.
• Handle customer complaints using 8D methodology and ensure timely closure.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer quality standards.
• Participate in APQP, PPAP, MSA, and FMEA activities for new product development.
• Support supplier quality improvement activities whenever required.
• Maintain quality records, audit reports, and documentation for internal and external audits.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance in automotive manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience in IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Good knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plan.
• Experience in customer complaint handling using 8D and CAPA methodologies.
• Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, and automotive quality requirements.
• Familiarity with quality tools such as 7 QC Tools, 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, and Poka-Yoke.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and process validation.
• Experience in ERP/SAP will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualification

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

• 6+ years of experience in Quality Assurance within the automotive manufacturing industry.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates with experience in automotive component manufacturing, precision machining, fasteners, forging, casting, or high-volume manufacturing environments are preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Strong experience in Quality Assurance and process quality.
• Hands-on exposure to automotive quality core tools.
• Experience in customer audits and internal quality systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Ability to work in shifts and support manufacturing operations.
