Job Description

General Overview / Role Expectations

Datamatics is looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to join its Cloud Center of Excellence (CoE), focused on building and operating automation that connects observability, security, and ticketing tools into a single closed-loop remediation layer. This role is ideal for engineers with strong AWS operations experience who want to move from manual troubleshooting into engineered, auditable automation.

The AWS Cloud Engineer will build and maintain AWS SSM-based automation, integrate Dynatrace and Wiz signals via webhooks into the orchestration layer, and drive automated ticket creation and updates through JIRA working closely with architects and AIOps engineers to take use cases from design through production enablement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain AWS SSM (AWS systems Manager) Automation Documents for routine and remediation tasks (service restarts, disk cleanup, scaling actions, and similar runbooks).
  • Configure and manage Dynatrace webhook integrations, routing problem/event notifications to the automation orchestration layer (Lambda, EventBridge).
  • Integrate Wiz findings (vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, posture issues) into automated triage and remediation workflows.
  • Build and maintain JIRA REST API integrations to auto-create, update, and close tickets with full action audit trails.
  • Provision and manage supporting AWS infrastructure (IAM roles/policies, EventBridge rules, API Gateway, Lambda) using Terraform.
  • Implement safe-action guardrails — allowlists, blast-radius scoping, and circuit-breaker / bounded-retry logic — for every automated action.
  • Run post-action verification against Dynatrace to confirm remediation actions resolved the underlying problem.
  • Conduct shadow-mode (observe-only) testing of new automations against non-production environments before go-live.
  • Troubleshoot automation failures, tune thresholds, and reduce false-positive/false-negative triggers using historical Dynatrace data.
  • Maintain runbook documentation, dashboards, and operations handover materials for each automated use case.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 4–6 years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or SRE, with a strong AWS operations background.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS SSM Automation (documents, runbooks, execution roles).
  • Practical experience with Dynatrace, including problem notifications, webhook configuration, and the Dynatrace API.
  • Experience integrating JIRA via REST API for automated ticket lifecycle management.
  • Exposure to Wiz or comparable cloud security posture / vulnerability management tools.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure-as-code delivery of automation components.
  • Scripting/programming ability in Python and/or Bash for automation logic.
  • Working knowledge of AWS core services (Lambda, EventBridge, IAM, CloudWatch, API Gateway).
  • Understanding of incident response and root cause analysis fundamentals (MTTD, MTTR).
  • Good problem-solving, documentation, and cross-team communication skills.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator / Solutions Architect Associate preferred.

Nice to Have / Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory)

  • Exposure to AIOps concepts and self-healing / no-human-in-the-loop automation design.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for deploying and versioning automation code.
  • Basic understanding of AI/ML-based anomaly detection as applied to operations data.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms in addition to JIRA.
