Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- Coordinate Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) activities across multiple manufacturing units while reporting to the EHS Manager/Corporate EHS Head.
- Travel extensively to manufacturing plants for EHS inspections, compliance verification, internal audits, training, and implementation of corporate EHS standards.
- Conduct regular plant visits to monitor compliance with company safety policies, statutory regulations, and environmental management systems.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) requirements across all plant locations.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal EHS audits, workplace inspections, and compliance assessments, ensuring timely closure of audit observations.
- Identify workplace hazards, conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor implementation of Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, work at height, hot work, and electrical safety procedures.
- Verify statutory records, EHS documentation, permits, licenses, SOPs, work instructions, inspection reports, and legal compliance registers.
- Conduct incident, accident, near-miss, and unsafe condition investigations using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and ensure effective CAPA implementation.
- Organize EHS induction programs, monthly safety training, toolbox talks, emergency response drills, and contractor safety awareness sessions.
- Monitor PPE compliance and ensure safe working practices throughout manufacturing operations.
- Coordinate environmental compliance activities including hazardous waste management, pollution control, wastewater management, emissions monitoring, and resource conservation initiatives.
- Track EHS KPIs including incidents, near misses, audit findings, training compliance, and corrective action closure, and prepare periodic reports for management.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, HR, Stores, Utilities, and contractors to ensure implementation of EHS requirements.
- Support customer audits, certification audits, and statutory inspections by preparing documentation and ensuring plant readiness.
- Conduct frequent travel and plant visits to monitor EHS implementation, verify compliance, provide guidance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee participation, reporting unsafe conditions, and implementing best EHS practices.
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Mechanical, Chemical, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Diploma/PG Diploma in Industrial Safety (Preferred).
- NEBOSH, IOSH, Fire & Safety, First Aid, or other EHS-related certifications are an added advantage.
- Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in EHS within manufacturing, chemical, automotive, polymer, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments.
- Willingness to travel frequently to manufacturing plants for inspections, audits, compliance monitoring, and training activities.
