Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Supply Chain Strategy

  • Develop and execute the organization's supply chain strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Build a resilient and agile global supply chain.
  • Drive localization initiatives and supply chain sustainability.
  • Establish long-term sourcing strategies for critical aerospace materials.

2. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Lead procurement of aerospace-grade raw materials, composites, metals, tooling, equipment, and indirect purchases.
  • Negotiate long-term contracts with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Drive annual cost reduction through strategic sourcing, value engineering, and supplier collaboration.
  • Ensure uninterrupted material availability while maintaining optimal inventory.

3. Supplier Development & Performance

  • Identify, qualify, onboard, and develop suppliers in line with aerospace quality requirements.
  • Conduct supplier capability assessments and audits.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as On-Time Delivery (OTD), Quality (PPM), Responsiveness, and Cost Competitiveness.
  • Develop dual-source strategies for critical commodities and mitigate supplier risks.

4. Planning & Inventory Management

  • Oversee Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), demand planning, and Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
  • Optimize inventory levels and working capital while maintaining production continuity.
  • Improve inventory turns and reduce excess and obsolete stock.
  • Ensure material availability to meet customer delivery schedules.

5. Logistics & Trade Compliance

  • Manage domestic and international logistics operations.
  • Coordinate import/export activities, customs clearance, and freight optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs regulations, and export control requirements.
  • Optimize transportation costs and improve logistics efficiency.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Program Management, and Sales.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through early supplier involvement.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on Design-to-Cost and supplier innovation initiatives.

7. Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and customer-specific aerospace requirements.
  • Support customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
  • Ensure procurement and supplier processes meet aerospace traceability and documentation standards.

8. Leadership & Transformation

  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing procurement, planning, logistics, and warehouse teams.
  • Drive Lean Supply Chain, digital transformation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Experience in Railways, Aerospace, Defence, Aviation, Composites, or Precision Manufacturing.

Experience working with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers is highly desirable
