Job Description
Role:
As an SCM Head, the incumbent will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods & services and managing vendors.
He / she should be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies.
• Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
• Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
• Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
• Assess, manage and mitigate risks.
• Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
• Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
• Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand requirements.
• Setting up the weekly, monthly, quarterly procurement plan.
• Planning and budgeting of purchase functions, involving cost estimation, contract ne-
gotiations.
• Implementing systems to avoid situations like over-stocking or out-of-stock which cause
production and financial losses.
• Developing reports on procurement and usage of material for top management.
• Vendor Development
• Effective management of vendor database.
• ABC classification of vendors based on criteria like cost, quality, delivery etc.
• Conducting trainings for vendors to educate them about companys require-
ments and help them in improving their performance.
• Evaluating vendors & negotiating the price, delivery schedule and terms and
conditions with them.
• Timely clearance of payments & handling vendor inquiries.
• Running programs to evaluate vendors based on the feedback from internal
stake holders.
• Conduct regularly internal audit of local suppliers.
• Vendors Audits Process development.
• Preparation and execution and of RFPs and RFQs related to:
• Solar Equipment (including, but not limited to, PV modules, inverters, racking
equipment, transformers and MV equipment, cables, etc.)
• Power plants construction (including, but not limited to, civil and electrical work,
mechanical assembly, HV, etc.)
• Supply Chain and Procurement document control / database management.
• Creation and execution of logistics plans with suppliers, contractors, and transportation
companies.
Preferred candidate profile:
1. Educational Qualification
- Undergraduate Degree: Bachelors degree in Engineering - Electrical / Electronics is mandatory.
- Post-Graduation: MBA in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management is strongly preferred.
2. Professional Experience
- Total Experience: 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain, with at least 7 to 10 years specifically focused on utility-scale solar PV, wind, BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), or renewable energy EPC projects.
- Scale of Exposure: Proven track record of managing high-value, mega-scale or gigawatt-scale renewable energy portfolios.
3. Technical & Domain Expertise
- Core Material Knowledge: Deep product familiarity with solar modules, central/string inverters, high-voltage transformers, switchgear, SCADA, mounting structures (MMS), and balance of systems (BOS).
- Commercial & Contractual Acumen: Expert understanding of EPC risk allocation, liquidated damages (LDs), performance guarantees, and change management.
- Regulatory & Global Trade: Knowledge of international shipping norms (INCOTERMS), custom duty landscapes, import/export policies, GST, and local compliance.
