POSITION PROFILE : Womens Wear Fashion Designer

Responsibilities:

1. Research and Analysis:

o Stay updated on current fashion trends, market demands, and competitor analysis.

o Conduct research on fabric types, color palettes, prints, and garment construction techniques.

2. Design and Development:

o Assist in creating initial concept boards and mood boards.

o Generate sketches and technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software or by hand.

o Collaborate with the lead designer to develop design ideas and refine concepts.

o Assist in selecting appropriate fabrics, trims, and embellishments for the collection.

o Create detailed specification sheets for prototypes and samples.

3. Sample Creation and Fittings:

o Work closely with the sample development team to ensure accurate garment construction.

o Attend fittings to assess the fit, silhouette, and overall design of the garments.

o Collaborate with the production team to resolve any design or construction issues.

4. Communication and Collaboration:

o Maintain effective communication with the design team, production team, and suppliers.

o Collaborate with pattern makers, sample makers, and garment technicians to ensure accurate interpretation of designs.

o Assist in managing and organizing design materials, fabric swatches, and samples.

5. Trend Forecasting and Presentation:

o Assist in trend forecasting and creating trend reports for seasonal collections.

o Contribute to the preparation and presentation of design concepts to clients or management.

Qualifications and Skills:

A degree in Fashion Design or a related field is preferred.

Strong knowledge of womens fashion trends, garment construction, and fabric types.

Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar tools.

Excellent sketching and drawing skills, both by hand and using digital tools.

Understanding of pattern making and technical design.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively.
