Gold Appraiser

1. Gold Audit & Compliance

• Examine gold ornaments using approved methods (touchstone, karat meter etc.)
• Determine gold purity (caratage), net weight, eligible loan value and cash management in the branch
• Identify non-gold components, stones, and impurities
• Ensure accurate and consistent valuation as per company norms
• Conduct periodic Audits of Gold Loan branches to assess compliance with Internal policies and regulatory compliance.

2. Loan Processing Support

• Assist in processing gold loan applications
• Work closely with the Customer Service Executive and Branch Manager
• Provide valuation inputs for loan sanction and disbursement
• Re-verify gold during loan closure or part-release

3. Risk Management & Fraud Prevention

• Detect counterfeit gold, gold-plated items, or adulteration
• Follow strict appraisal protocols to minimize credit and operational risk
• Report suspicious cases or discrepancies immediately
• Ensure proper handling and safeguarding of pledged gold

4. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain detailed records of appraised items
• Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines and internal audit norms
• Do the branch audits and inspections with accurate documentation
• Adhere to KYC and operational policies

5. Customer Interaction

• Explain valuation process transparently to customers
• Address customer queries related to gold valuation
• Build customer confidence through professionalism and integrity

Qualification and skills:

• 1 to 5 years of experience in gold appraisal / jewellery valuation / gold loan industry
• Freshers with certified training in gold appraisal may also be considered
