Job Description
What role you will play in our team
Propose innovative geotechnical approaches to enhance foundation design efficiency, minimize construction expenses, and uphold ExxonMobils safety culture and ensure compliance with safety management systems.
What you will do - Provide expert recommendations for geotechnical investigation needs, design criteria, and execution plans regarding earthworks, foundations, and piling, supporting projects, overseeing drilling, and operations
- Spearhead geotechnical projects, including technical bid evaluation, vendor selection, project cost evaluation, and schedule management
- Assess geotechnical risks associated with offshore and onshore projects and devise mitigation strategies to mitigate potential safety and reliability concerns
- Assist in site selection for new developments and evaluate pipeline routes. Oversee third-party geotechnical studies and ensure the development of design parameters, actively managing activities performed by external parties
- Offer technical support and review scopes of work for geotechnical surveys, data reports, and laboratory tests. Effectively communicate geotechnical risks and opportunities
- Contribute to the development of company and industry standards and provide geotechnical expertise to various Upstream Downstream projects and manufacturing sites of ExxonMobil worldwide
- Remain abreast of technological developments in offshore and onshore geotechnics, integrating best practices and latest standards into ongoing projects.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's/post-graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum GPA 7.0
- Required minimum 5 years of experience in Geotechnical job role
- Experience in the foundation design for offshore and/or onshore structures (e.g., foundations for steel piled jackets, refineries, subsea pipelines, jetties, coastal infrastructure, marine facilities, or industrial structures)
- Comprehensive understanding of geotechnical principles and soil mechanics
- Experience in development of geotechnical site investigation scope and review of geotechnical interpretative reports
- Candidates should be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results
- Commitment to safety and sustainability principles in all endeavors
- Demonstrate leadership, agility, and willingness to travel per business requirements
- Collaborate with other disciplines and support geotechnical aspects of projects
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Develop fit-for-purpose work scopes for offshore and onshore geotechnical/geophysical surveys, ensuring safety and quality
- Conduct geotechnical engineering assessments for offshore and onshore facilities, including PSHA, slope stability, foundations/piling, anchors, and liquefaction
- Recommend earthworks requirements and site/soil improvement methodologies as deemed necessary
- Leverage modeling/IT tools and databases for geotechnical opportunities, including Geographic Information System (GIS) for data management
- Provide support for drilling activities, including jack-up foundation assessments, rig suitability studies, well casing /conductor and riser analysis
- Proficiency in applicable codes and standards in Geotechnical Engineering, along with hands-on experience in geotechnical software such as GRLWEAP, GEOSLOPE, PLAXIS, L-PILE/A-PILE
- Solid technical and analytical skills aided with strong communication, innovative thinking, and teamwork capabilities
