Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Functional Safety Engineer with strong expertise across Hardware, Software, Systems, and Validation domains for automotive ECU and embedded controller development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience throughout the ISO 26262 safety lifecycle, from concept and architecture development through implementation, verification, validation, and safety case release for ASIL B/C/D systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Functional Safety activities in compliance with ISO 26262.
  • Develop and review Item Definition, HARA, Functional Safety Concept (FSC), Technical Safety Concept (TSC), Safety Plans, and Safety Cases.
  • Define and manage safety requirements at system, hardware, software, and vehicle levels.
  • Perform ASIL decomposition and allocation of safety requirements across hardware and software architectures.
  • Conduct safety analyses including FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA, SW-FMEA, and Common Cause Analysis (CCA).
  • Calculate and analyze SPFM, LFM, and PMHF metrics for ASIL B/C/D products.
  • Collaborate with system architects to define fault-tolerant and fail-operational safety architectures.
  • Develop and review Hardware Safety Requirements (HSR) and Software Safety Requirements (SSR).
  • Support implementation of safety mechanisms such as watchdogs, memory protection, clock monitoring, voltage monitoring, lockstep processing, runtime diagnostics, and fault handling strategies.
  • Work closely with embedded software teams developing AUTOSAR-based and safety-critical applications.
  • Support MCU and ECU safety architecture reviews involving Infineon AURIX, NXP, Renesas, TI, or similar automotive platforms.
  • Define and execute safety verification and validation strategies across MIL, SIL, PIL, HIL, and vehicle testing environments.
  • Perform fault injection testing and diagnostic coverage analysis to verify safety mechanisms.
  • Review and analyze test reports, safety verification results, and validation evidence.
  • Ensure bidirectional traceability of safety requirements using DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or equivalent tools.
  • Support Functional Safety Assessments (FSA), audits, confirmation reviews, and production release activities.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Systems, Hardware, Software, and Validation teams throughout product development.
  • Support ASPICE-compliant development processes and documentation activities.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of Automotive Functional Safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 26262 Parts 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9.
  • Experience with ASIL B/C/D safety-critical systems.
  • Hands-on expertise in HARA, FSC, TSC, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and Safety Case development.
  • Support MCU and ECU safety architecture reviews involving Infineon AURIX, NXP, Renesas, TI, or similar automotive platforms.
  • Support ASPICE-compliant development processes and documentation activities.
