Job Description
- Design, develop, and maintain custom Backstage plugins (frontend and backend) to support engineering workflows
- Integrate Backstage with internal and third-party systems (CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, monitoring tools, ticketing systems, security scanners, etc.)
- Extend and customize the Backstage Software Catalog, TechDocs, Scaffolder templates, and Kubernetes/cost insights plugins
- Build and maintain custom entity providers, processors, and catalog ingestion pipelines
- Collaborate with platform, SRE, and application teams to gather requirements and translate them into plugin features
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable TypeScript/React (frontend) and Node.js (backend) code
- Contribute to plugin architecture decisions, code reviews, and internal documentation
- Monitor plugin performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve reliability and UX
- Stay current with the Backstage open-source ecosystem and contribute upstream where appropriate
- Advocate for developer experience (DevEx) best practices across the organization
