IT Corporate Technology
Corporate Technology powers Jefferies enterprise operations, enabling front , middle , and back office teams to run efficiently, securely, and in compliance at scale. The group delivers and supports integrated platforms across HR, Finance, Compliance & Legal, Treasury, Client Onboarding, Operations, Centralized Data Services, Regulatory Reporting, Loan Operations, and FX Trading, while also leading firmwide digitalization initiatives focused on automation and process efficiency.
The team uses a modern technology stack including AWS and Azure, Snowflake, Qlik Sense, and best in class vendor solutions to build next generation capabilities in AI/ML, enterprise analytics, and process automation (RPA and low code/no code). Roles in Corporate Technology offer hands on work with cloud, data, and automation platforms, close collaboration with engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders, and end to end exposure to how a global financial services firm operates.
Full Stack Developer Software Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and self driven Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer) to join our cloud native engineering team. You will work on modern distributed systems built using Java, Angular/React, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and API Gateway based microservices.
This role provides hands on exposure to scalable application design, event driven architecture, and cloud native development practices. You will collaborate with senior engineers to deliver high quality features in an agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Full Stack Development
- Develop responsive and reusable UI components using Angular or React
- Build secure and scalable backend microservices using Java (preferably Java 17+)
- Integrate front end and back end through REST APIs and API Gateway
2. Cloud Native & Microservices
- Contribute to the design and development of microservices deployed on cloud platforms
- Work with API Gateways to expose and manage service endpoints
- Learn containerized development using Docker and CI/CD pipelines
3. Event Driven Architecture
- Develop and integrate services with Kafka for asynchronous messaging
- Understand Kafka producers, consumers, topics, and message delivery patterns
4. Database Development
- Build and optimize database schemas and queries using PostgreSQL
- Understand indexing, transactions, and data modeling best practices
5. Quality Engineering
- Write unit, integration, and API tests using industry standard tools
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding best practices
6. Agile Collaboration
- Participate in sprint planning, stand ups, grooming, and retrospectives
- Work cross functionally with product managers, QA, architects, and senior developers
Required Skills
- Strong foundation in Core Java, OOP concepts, and backend services
- Exposure to Angular or React for modern UI development
- Basic understanding of REST API design and microservices
- Familiarity with Kafka (basic producers/consumers)
- Good understanding of SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Knowledge of Git, build tools (Maven/Gradle), and debugging techniques
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred / Nice to Have Skills
- Hands on projects involving cloud native development (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Understanding of containers (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of API Gateway patterns (authentication, throttling, routing)
- Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jest, Cypress, etc.)
- Familiarity with event driven design patterns
