About the Role :

We are seeking a talented Frontend Software Engineer to join our eCRM Platform team at THG Ingenuity. You will be responsible for building and maintaining our proprietary eCRM platform that powers customer relationship management capabilities across our ecommerce ecosystem. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge frontend technologies on a platform that directly impacts millions of customer interactions and drives key business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications using React 18+ and Next.js 15+

- Design and implement efficient caching strategies at multiple layers (browser, CDN, application-level)

- Build reusable components and frontend libraries following modern React patterns and best practices

- Write comprehensive test suites using Playwright for E2E testing, Jest for unit testing, and React Testing Library for component testing

- Optimise Core Web Vitals and ensure excellent page performance across all platform features

- Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and implement efficient data fetching strategies

- Implement incremental static regeneration (ISR) for dynamic content optimisation

- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain code quality

- Work closely with UX/UI designers to deliver pixel-perfect, accessible user interfaces

- Troubleshoot and debug production issues, providing timely resolutions

- Contribute to technical documentation and architectural decision records

Required Skills and Experience :

- 3+ years of commercial experience in frontend development

- Strong proficiency in React 18+ including :

1. Server Components and Client Components architecture

2. Concurrent features and Suspense

3. Modern hooks patterns and state management

- Production experience with Next.js 15+ including :

1. App Router and advanced routing patterns

2. Server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG)

3. API routes and middleware implementation

4. Image optimisation and performance features

- Demonstrated expertise in caching strategies :

1. HTTP caching headers and CDN configuration

2. React Query or SWR for client-side caching

3. Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR)

4. Edge caching strategies

- Strong testing experience with :

1. Playwright for end-to-end testing

2. Jest for unit and integration testing

3. React Testing Library for component testing

4. Test-driven development (TDD) practices

- Solid understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3

- Experience with modern CSS solutions (CSS Modules, CSS, or CSS-in-JS)

- Proficiency with Git version control and GitHub workflows

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with Next.js middleware and edge functions

- Knowledge of performance optimisation techniques including code splitting and lazy loading

- Familiarity with Turbopack or other modern build tools

- Understanding of micro-frontend architectures

- Experience with CRM systems or marketing technology platforms

- Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) implementation

- Understanding of SEO best practices and Core Web Vitals optimisation
