Job Description

We are seeking a Formulation Scientist Cosmetics to work under the guidance of the Chief Chemist in developing and refining topical formulations aligned with Aora's “Inside + Outside” wellness concept, where cosmetic products complement nutraceutical benefits. The role is hands-on and bench-focused, supporting the full formulation lifecycle from concept trials to production handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and optimise cosmetic and personal care products (creams, serums, lotions, oils, cleansers, hair care) under the direction of the Chief Chemist
  • Prepare lab batches and conduct bench trials, sample iterations, and pilot scale-up studies
  • Carry out stability testing, compatibility studies, and physico-chemical evaluations; record and analyse results
  • Evaluate raw materials, natural extracts, and actives; maintain ingredient and vendor documentation
  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers for trial batches, validation, and technology transfer
  • Support regulatory compliance with CDSCO, BIS, and applicable export requirements, including dossier preparation
  • Maintain complete formulation records, batch manufacturing records, and test documentation
  • Assist in cost optimisation of formulations without compromising performance or stability
  • Coordinate with branding, marketing, and NPD teams for claims support and product storytelling inputs

Key Requirements

  • B.Pharm / M.Pharm / M.Sc in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • 3 - 6 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic / personal care formulation development
  • Sound knowledge of emulsions, actives, preservative systems, and skin/hair science
  • Exposure to natural and clean-label formulations preferred
  • Familiarity with stability protocols, testing methods, and GMP documentation
  • Working knowledge of Indian cosmetic regulations (CDSCO, BIS)
  • Meticulous documentation habits and ability to work in a fast-paced D2C environment

Education

  • UG: B.Sc (Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry) or B.Pharm in any specialisation
  • PG (preferred): M.Sc (Chemistry / Organic Chemistry / Cosmetic Science) or M.Pharm
