Role & responsibilities
•Monitor the day-to-day accounting and financial operations within the company, such as purchases, bill payments, payroll, invoicing, bank reconciliations, customer/supplier reconciliations and other transactions.
• Ensure complete and accurate accounts are maintained, including timely passing of month end accrual entries and month close entries
• Prepare base documentation for banks including routine filings and documents for new facilities
• Prepare and run the local cashflow ensuring timely payments made and highlighting any requirements for additional funding
• Manage documentation for importation pre-shipment, pre-arrival and post-arrival activities including (but not limited to) preparation of Form M, PAAR, liaising with suppliers and banks for release of documents, liaising with clearing agent for shipments etc.
• Ensure that company property including stocks are properly and adequately insured.
• Oversee financial department employees, including account assistants and accountants.
• Responsible for timely submission of statutory returns and payment, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs as necessary
• Work closely with tax consultants and ensure timely filing of all statutory returns including VAT and Corporate tax
• Track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
• Seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company.
• Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making, including market trends
• Prepare financial reports for presentation to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings.
