Etl Test Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for ETL processes and Data Warehouse systems.
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and transformation testing across multiple data sources.
• Conduct functional, regression, and performance testing of ETL jobs.
• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and business analysts to understand requirements and ensure test coverage.
• Identify, document, and track defects; work with teams to resolve issues.
• Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy in staging, warehouse, and reporting layers.
• Automate repetitive test cases using SQL queries and scripting.
• Provide detailed test results, metrics, and reports to stakeholders.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 36 years of experience in ETL/Data Warehouse testing.
• Strong expertise in SQL (complex queries, joins, aggregations, stored procedures).
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, DataStage, SSIS).
• Knowledge of Data Warehouse concepts (star schema, snowflake schema, fact/dimension tables).
• Experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM, TestRail).
• Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, Cognos) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
