Position: Civil Estimation Engineer

PLACE OF POSTING: Bangalore

REPORTS TO: Manager

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Bachelors degree in civil engineering or equivalent.

WORK EXPERIENCE (Industry, Area of experience, Years of Experience)

• 2 to 10 years of experience in civil estimation within the real estate or construction industry.
• Proficiency in estimation software such as AutoCAD, MS Excel, CostX, or Candy.
• Solid understanding of construction techniques, specifications, market rates, and local codes.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

• Able to analyse complex construction drawings and data to make accurate estimations.
• Applies logic to assess material, labour, and time requirements.
• Meticulous in preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Catches discrepancies in drawings, BOQs, and specifications early.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare accurate cost estimates, BOQs, and material take-offs from architectural and structural drawings.
• Analyse project plans, specifications, and requirements to determine project scope and estimate quantities and costs.
• Coordinate with design, procurement, and site teams for quantity validation and cost benchmarking.
• Maintain and update unit rates, material prices, and labour cost databases.
• Evaluate contractor and vendor quotations and compare with internal cost benchmarks.
• Assist in budget preparation, feasibility studies, and cost control during the project lifecycle.
• Review project scope and ensure alignment with cost estimates and commercial viability.
• Provide value engineering inputs for cost optimization without compromising design or quality.
• Track variations and support in preparing claims or revised estimates due to design changes.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, quality standards, and client requirements.
