Environmental Health and Safety Officer

Role Summary:

The EHS Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) systems to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and company policies. The role focuses on creating a safe workplace, minimising environmental impact, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organisation.

Role & responsibilities:

Environment:

• Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations (CPCB, SPCB, pollution control norms).
• Monitor effluent treatment plant (ETP), emissions, waste management, and hazardous waste disposal.
• Maintain environmental documentation, records, and statutory registers.
• Coordinate with external agencies for environmental audits and inspections.

Health & Safety:

• Implement safety policies, SOPs, and safe work practices.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments (HIRA, JSA).
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and corrective actions.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and conduct safety training and mock drills.
• Monitor occupational health, emergency preparedness, and fire safety systems.
• Support ISO 45001 / OHSAS requirements.
  

Compliance & Documentation:

• Ensure compliance with Factory Act, MSIHC Rules, Hazardous Waste Rules, and other applicable laws.
• Liaison with government authorities, inspectors, and auditors.
• Prepare and submit statutory returns and reports on time.
• Maintain MSDS, safety permits, and legal compliance trackers.
