Job Description

Role & responsibilities :

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Engineering & Maintenance team.
  • Manage engineering operations across all three shifts.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities with controlled OpEx and optimum utilization of available resources. Candidates should have strong exposure to tablet and liquid manufacturing technology.
  • Ensure maximum equipment uptime and optimum plant availability.
  • Prepare annual maintenance plans, shutdown schedules, and engineering budgets.
  • Drive engineering projects from planning through execution with minimum production downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, WHO-GMP, Schedule M, EHS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead utilities management including HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, Air Compressors, Water Systems, DG Sets, and Electrical Systems.
  • Coordinate with Production, QA, QC, Warehouse, and Validation teams for smooth operations.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA), CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor engineering KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, equipment efficiency, and maintenance costs.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, calibration schedules, and statutory records.
  • Mentor team members and build a strong culture of ownership, discipline, and accountability.
  • Be a hands-on leader capable of independently planning, executing, and completing critical engineering assignments.
  • Candidate should have strong exposure to energy-saving initiatives, electrical systems, plant safety, and ETP compliance.


Preferred candidate profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 14-15 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably in External Preparations and Tablet manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in leading Engineering & Maintenance teams in a WHO-GMP/cGMP compliant facility.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production equipment and utility systems.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC, Boilers, Chillers, Air Compressors, DG Sets, Water Systems, Electrical & Instrumentation, and ETP operations.
  • Good understanding of cGMP, WHO-GMP, Schedule M, EHS, and statutory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, planning, and project execution skills.
  • Experience in implementing energy-saving initiatives, cost optimization, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
