Job Description
ABOUT AIRVEDA
Airveda Technologies is a Delhi NCR-based deep-tech company building precision air quality monitoring solutions for homes, offices, schools, and smart-city deployments across India. Our products combine advanced sensor fusion, IoT connectivity, and cloud analytics to deliver real-time, actionable air quality data. We are on a mission to make clean air accessible and measurable for every Indian.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Embedded Systems Engineer who will own the full firmware lifecycle from hardware bring-up and driver development to cloud connectivity and field deployment. You will work across our indoor and outdoor air quality monitor product lines, contributing to both the embedded firmware and IoT communication stack. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Microchip (PIC/AVR/SAM) and ESP32 platforms, solid understanding of wireless and wired communication protocols, and a passion for building reliable, low-power connected devices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain production-grade embedded firmware in C/C++ for Microchip (PIC16/PIC18/dsPIC/SAM) and ESP32/ESP32-S3 platforms.
- Develop and optimize drivers for IoT communication stacks — Wi-Fi (ESP-IDF), BLE (Bluedroid/NimBLE), GSM/LTE (AT command), and MQTT/HTTP over TLS.
- Implement and maintain Modbus RTU/TCP and UART-based communication interfaces for sensor integration and industrial data exchange.
- Manage sensor interfacing — PM2.5/PM10 (PMS, SPS30), CO2 (SCD, MH-Z19), VOC, temperature & humidity sensors — via UART, I2C, and SPI buses.
- Build and maintain OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware update mechanism for deployed devices in the field.
- Implement low-power design techniques: deep sleep cycles, adaptive polling, and power profiling for battery-operated outdoor units.
- Collaborate with the hardware team during PCB bring-up, validate schematics, and debug board-level issues using oscilloscope and logic analyser.
- Write Python-based test scripts and automation tools for firmware validation, serial log parsing, and factory calibration.
- Maintain clean Git history, write technical documentation, and support CE/FCC/BIS certification test activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews; contribute to architectural decisions for next-gen product platforms.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Mandatory
- 2–3 years of professional embedded firmware development experience.
- Proven hands-on experience with Microchip MCUs using MPLAB X / XC8 / XC16 toolchain.
- Strong ESP32 / ESP32-S3 firmware development using ESP-IDF (not just Arduino).
- Solid command of C for embedded systems; register-level peripheral configuration (UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, Timers, DMA).
- Working knowledge of GSM/GPRS/LTE modem interfacing via AT commands (SIM800, SIM7600, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi (station/AP mode, provisioning) and BLE (GATT server/client, advertising, pairing) on ESP32.
- Modbus RTU/TCP implementation — both master and slave roles.
- Comfortable reading hardware schematics and datasheets; board bring-up experience.
- B.E./B.Tech in ECE, EEE, or related field.
Good to Have
- Experience with FreeRTOS or other RTOS for multi-tasking on ESP32 or Microchip SAM.
- MQTT over TLS, AWS IoT Core / Firebase integration from device side.
- Python scripting for serial communication, log automation, or calibration tools.
- KiCad or EasyEDA for schematic review or minor PCB modifications.
- Experience with air quality, environmental, or industrial IoT sensor products.
- Knowledge of BIS / CE regulatory testing requirements for wireless IoT devices.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive CTC in the range of 5L – 10L based on experience and skills.
- Direct ownership of product firmware — you ship code that runs on thousands of real devices.
- Collaborative, flat-structure engineering team with fast decision cycles.
- Access to well-equipped hardware lab — logic analysers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyser, soldering stations.
- Learning support — conference participation, online courses, and certifications encouraged.
- 5-day work week; on-site at our Ghaziabad facility with easy metro connectivity.
