Job Description
Role & responsibilities
Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
- Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, VxWorks, QNX, or similar) and bare-metal systems.
- Knowledge of power system protection principles and relay algorithms (overcurrent, differential, distance, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols (IEC 61850, GOOSE, MMS, DNP3, Modbus).
- Familiarity with embedded Linux or high-performance DSP platforms.
- Use of debugging and testing tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, static analysis tools).
- Version control systems (Git, SVN).
- Job Purpose
To design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software solutions for protection relays, substation automation, and related power system products, ensuring high reliability, safety, and compliance with international standards (IEC).
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded software for microcontrollers, DSPs, and SoCs used in protection relays and substation automation devices.
- Implement real-time algorithms for power system protection, measurement, and control.
- Develop and maintain low-level software, device drivers, and middleware for hardware interfaces.
- Integrate and support communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, GOOSE messaging, Ethernet).
- Perform software integration, system testing, and validation for protection and control applications.
- Collaborate closely with hardware and power systems engineers for seamless integration of relay logic with hardware platforms.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including software design specifications, test procedures, and compliance reports.
- Ensure adherence to relevant standards (IEC 60255, IEC 61850, cybersecurity guidelines).
- Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement of coding standards and processes.
- Support field issues, diagnostics, and firmware upgrades for deployed products.
Qualifications
- Education: B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience: 48 years in embedded software development for power systems, protection relays, or substation automation.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
- Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, VxWorks, QNX, or similar) and bare-metal systems.
