Job Description
Role Purpose
The Project Manager will be responsible for end-to-end project execution with strong ownership of project cost control, timelines, and profitability in industrial automation projects including PLC, SCADA, panels, instrumentation, testing, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project schedules (engineering, procurement, panel fabrication, FAT, SAT, commissioning).
- Track milestones and ensure on-time delivery as per contract.
- Identify schedule risks early and implement corrective actions.
2. Cost Control & Budget Management
- Prepare and manage project budgets (materials, manpower, travel, subcontracting).
- Track actual vs budgeted and control overruns.
- Ensure profit margins are maintained as per project approval.
- Approve and monitor variation orders / scope changes with commercial impact.
3. Resource & Vendor Management
- Plan and optimize engineering and site manpower utilization.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely material delivery at optimal cost.
- Manage vendors, panel builders, system integrators, and subcontractors.
- Verify vendor invoices against work completion.
4. Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the single point of contact for clients on project execution matters.
- Conduct project review meetings and provide progress & cost reports.
- Manage expectations and resolve execution-related issues professionally.
5. Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify technical, commercial, and schedule risks.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Manage claims, delays, and penalties proactively.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation: schedules, cost sheets, BOQs, change logs.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports.
- Support finance team for billing, revenue recognition, and collections.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Automation Engineering.
- MBA in Project Management
Experience Requirements
- 5-10 years of experience in industrial automation project execution.
- Proven track record in:
Cost control & budgeting
Schedule management
Multi-discipline automation projects (PLC, SCADA, panels, field instruments).
Technical Skills
- Hands-on with:
MS Project / Primavera
Excel-based cost tracking & MIS
ERP systems
Behavioural & Leadership Skills
- Strong ownership mindset (cost & time driven).
- Excellent planning and negotiation skills.
- Ability to handle pressure, deadlines, and multi-site projects.
