Job Description: Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Technician
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Maintenance Professional with a strong technical background to oversee the continuous operation and reliability of our facility's plant machinery and electrical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing preventive maintenance, diagnosing complex faults, minimizing machinery downtime, and enforcing strict electrical safety protocols.
- Education: Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE).
- Experience: 2 to 7 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing plant, industrial, or commercial facility maintenance.
- Work Layout: Full-time, flexible to work in rotating shifts.
- Certifications: Valid Electrical B-License or C-License is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities1. Breakdown & Corrective Maintenance
- Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical faults in manufacturing machinery and plant utilities to minimize production downtime.
- Diagnose issues in components like AC/DC drives, PLC systems, control wiring, relays, starters, and contactors.
- Read and interpret complex electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams (SLDs) for rapid fault rectification.
2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) checklists for all plant electrical assets.
- Perform periodic testing on HT/LT power distribution systems, transformers, and control panels.
- Conduct predictive tasks, such as thermal imaging of panels and insulation resistance (Megger) checks.
3. Utility & Infrastructure Management
- Operate and maintain heavy-duty Diesel Generator (DG) sets, Air Compressors, Chillers, and HVAC systems.
- Monitor Power Factor (APFC panels) and optimize energy consumption profiles across the facility.
- Manage facility lighting, UPS units, earth pits, and lightning protection systems.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) prior to initiating any hazardous maintenance work.
- Maintain an absolute accident-free environment by ensuring compliance with local electrical safety regulations and standards.
- Keep electrical panel rooms clean, dust-free, well-lit, and cleared of unauthorized storage.
5. Spare Parts & Documentation
- Maintain precise documentation of shift logs, history cards, check sheets, and breakdown reports.
- Manage critical electrical inventory and flag low stocks of fuses, contactors, cables, and sensors to avoid replenishment delays.
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Core Systems: Hands-on experience with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), PLCs, HMIs, and electrical control circuits.
- Equipment: Sound knowledge of Transformers, Circuit Breakers (ACB, VCB, MCCB), Switchgears, and industrial motors.
- Instruments: Expert use of diagnostic tools like digital multimeters, clamp meters, earth testers, and lux meters.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and a collaborative team attitude.
