Electrical Design Engineer

Functional Competencies

• Strong knowledge of electrical detailing and design development practices.
• Experience in preparing Technical specifications, review of vendor offers
• Vendor evaluation for their technical competencies
• Hands on experience in load flow and short circuit analysis
• Hands on experience in handling switchyard, MV and HV switchboards, LV switch boards, Transformers, Busduct, HV and LV cables, UPS, DG, Etc
• Experience in preparing construction-level electrical drawings and documents.
• Good understanding of power distribution systems, switchyard arrangements, grounding, lighting, and cable management.
• Ability to interpret vendor documents, engineering standards, and project specifications.
• Familiarity with relevant standards such as IEC, IEEE, IS, and applicable local regulations.
• Proficiency in engineering, drawing preparation and review.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical engineering deliverables such as SLDs, GA drawings, cable routing drawings, cable schedules, interconnection diagrams, and equipment layouts.
• Develop and update electrical design documents based on project inputs, vendor data, and interdisciplinary requirements.
• Prepare detailed drawings and documents for HV, MV, and LV systems, including cable tray layout, Earthing layout, grounding, lighting, and lightning protection layouts.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications for electrical package and float
• Perform detailed vendor offer evaluation, prepare technical comparison of vendor offers and recommend technically competent vendor based on the technical rating.
• Carry out electrical detailing for switchyard, transformer, MCC, control room, and auxiliary systems as applicable.
• Support preparation of, construction drawings, as-built drawings, and field change documents.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and procurement teams for design integration and interface closure.
• Review vendor drawings and documents for compliance with project specifications and design intent.
• Ensure consistency of electrical design outputs with P&IDs, equipment layouts, routing plans, and construction requirements.
• Resolve design clashes and interface issues through coordination with other disciplines and site teams.
• Support installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning activities by addressing field queries and design clarifications.
• Ensure all deliverables comply with relevant codes, standards, client specifications, and quality requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, and internal/external document review cycles.

Interdisciplinary Coordination

• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, procurement, and project teams to ensure smooth design integration.
• Align electrical detailing with equipment foundations, cable tray routes, cable trenches, plant layouts, and space constraints.
• Review and resolve interface requirements related to cable entries, termination spaces, earthing, and equipment clearances.
• Support closure of inter-discipline comments and ensure timely incorporation of agreed changes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design review meetings and track action closure.
