MANAGER QUALITY

Sheet Metal Fabrication & Electrical Panel Manufacturing

01 ROLE PURPOSE

The Quality Manager owns the manufacturing quality function end-to-end from incoming material to final dispatch clearance. The mandate is singular: no product leaves the factory without passing rigorous internal inspection. This is a prevention-first role built on Right First Time discipline and a Zero Defect culture, where customer satisfaction is earned through internal manufacturing excellence not downstream complaint handling.

02 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Incoming Quality Control (IQC)

Inspect incoming raw materials sheet metal, components, hardware, and electrical parts against defined acceptance standards.

Verify vendor quality performance and coordinate corrective action for supplier non-conformance.

Issue and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for rejected or deviated material.

In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)

Monitor quality at every stage: cutting, bending, punching, welding, grinding, surface preparation, powder coating, assembly, and electrical wiring.

Ensure process parameters and workmanship standards are met before work-in-progress advances to the next stage.

Stop and correct process deviations at source, before defects compound downstream.

Final Quality Inspection (FQC) — Core Responsibility

Conduct comprehensive pre-dispatch inspection: dimensional accuracy, visual finish, functional performance, and assembly integrity.

Verify documentation completeness, correct labelling, and packaging quality against customer and contractual requirements.

Hold direct authority to stop shipment of any product that does not meet defined quality standards — non-negotiable.

Quality Documentation & Systems

Maintain inspection reports, checklists, NCRs, CAPA records, root cause analyses, SOPs, and work instructions.

Ensure all documentation and processes comply with ISO 9001 and applicable internal quality standards.

Own internal audit calendar covering manufacturing, documentation, process adherence, and calibration compliance; track closure of all audit observations.

Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement

Lead structured investigations into internal defects, process deviations, and repeat quality failures using 5-Why, Fishbone, CAPA, and FMEA methodologies.

Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Poka-Yoke initiatives to improve First Pass Yield and eliminate waste.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Lead, coach, and develop Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and shop-floor quality staff; build a quality-first culture across the plant.

Partner closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, Design, Stores, Purchase, Dispatch, and Maintenance to embed quality across the value chain.

03 CANDIDATE PROFILE

Educational Qualifications

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline.

Experience

8–15+ years in Quality within sheet metal fabrication, electrical panels, switchgear, heavy engineering, or precision manufacturing.

Demonstrated experience managing shop-floor quality teams in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Technical Competencies

Sheet metal fabrication, welding inspection, GD&T interpretation, engineering drawing and BOM verification.

Hands-on proficiency with inspection equipment: Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, surface finish testers.

Powder coating standards, electrical panel inspection, quality planning, and process validation.

Behavioural Competencies

Attention to detail, analytical and structured problem-solving, and a strong ownership mindset.

Decisive leadership with the conviction to stop a shipment when standards are not met.

Process orientation, accountability, and clear, direct communication across all levels of the plant.
