Role & responsibilities

Lead a team of Software Engineer Managers (SEMs) in the development and maintenance of technology products
Work alongside fellow Heads of Engineering to build and maintain a culture of high standards
Working with Product Management and your SEMs, develop the long-term strategy with your teams and support them as they translate it into achievable goals
Help drive a deep understanding how architectural elements of the software ecosystem work together, and ensure teams develop engineering and testing approaches that fit the overall strategy
Deliver regular updates within the team and to leadership
Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
Encourage innovative ideas to the table every day, in order to find better ways of accomplishing your objectives

Experience and Qualifications

Must have extensive experience in fullstack Java development, with proven ability to influence architecture decisions, guide engineering teams, and drive highquality delivery
15+ years as a software engineer (profession/academic) across a range of technologies (include Java, Javascript), including building distributed systems
5+ years of experience as a software engineering manager building, leading and developing exceptional teams in the development of complex systems
Experience designing software architectures for scalability, reliability and performance
Experience building a product from concept to prototype and implementation
Experience developing cloud software services
Computer Science fundamentals experience in data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Proven knowledge and experience of agile delivery processes
Experience in recruiting, managing and coaching individuals to improve their skills and make them more effective.
