Junior Snowflake & Python ETL Developer (2-5 years of experience)
Position Overview
Were looking for a talented Snowflake & Python ETL Developer to join our growing data engineering team and contribute to building reliable data pipelines that support analytics and business intelligence initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production ETL pipelines that extract data from various sources, transform it according to business logic, and load it into our Snowflake data warehouse.
- Implement ETL processes using Python and Snowflake features such as snowpark, snowpipe for automated data ingestion, streams and tasks for incremental processing, and stored procedures for transformations.
- Write clean, maintainable code that follows established patterns and best practices set by the team.
- Develop validation checks, implement error handling, and create monitoring for your pipelines to ensure data accuracy and timely delivery.
- Troubleshoot production issues and learn systematic approaches to root cause analysis.
- Creating technical specifications for your pipelines, updating runbooks for operational procedures, and sharing knowledge with team members.
- Optimize existing pipelines by analyzing performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements under the guidance of senior engineers.
Production Support:
- Participate in a rotational production support schedule (approximately one month rotations) to monitor data pipelines, respond to alerts, and resolve operational issues.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes that prevent recurrence.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills & Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or related technical roles
- Solid working knowledge of Snowflake, including data warehousing fundamentals, basic optimization techniques, and core features (Snowpipe, streams, tasks)
- Proficiency in Python with demonstrated experience building ETL scripts, data transformation logic, and automation tools
- Hands-on experience developing and supporting production data pipelines with responsibility for data quality and delivery
- Strong SQL skills including joins, aggregations, window functions, and query optimization basics
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and basic understanding of CI/CD concepts
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts and dimensional design principles
- Understanding of data pipeline monitoring and error handling approaches
Education:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, or Step Functions
- Experience integrating AWS with Snowflake (external stages, storage integrations)
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Autosys etc
- Basic knowledge of data quality testing and validation frameworks
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies
- Good to have SnowPro Core certification or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification
- Experience with data visualization or analytics tools
