Job Description
- Accountable for the safe and efficient running of various departments
- Supervise and evaluate the function of nursing supervisors and staff nurses
- Plans, directs, monitors and appraises the performance of the nursing staff and drives their performance towards outstanding results.
- Motivates and encourages the nursing staff to develop advances in nursing, patient care and service.
- Check and finalise the duty roaster and plans the staff leave
- Check attendance and punctuality of the staff in the unit
- Conduct regular staff meeting to resolve problems
- Review the stock position of all items and indent the same
- Planning staff requirement, interview the nursing staff and assist in the selection of staff nurses
- Provide in service training to all staff
- Develop team spirit in the department
- To keep informed on the changes in policies to the staff
- Look after the welfare of the nursing staff
- Gives counseling and guidance to the nursing department
- Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational and personnel policies and procedures.
- Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting nursing divisions philosophy and standards of care; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommends
- Maintains nursing staff by selecting, orienting and training nursing staff.
- Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff; following up on work results.
