Deputy Manager - Preocurement

Role & responsibilities

Supplier Network Development Establish and maintain a robust network of reliable steel suppliers with strong business relationships. Maintain steel mill capacity and developments

• Negotiation Conduct supplier negotiations to prevent overspending and secure favorable terms.
• Price Compliance Ensure strict adherence between quoted bid prices and actual purchase prices of raw materials.
• Cross-Functional Coordination Collaborate with PPC, QA/Technical Services, Contract Management, Finance, Store, Shipping and Exim team to execute procurement activities seamlessly.
• Consumption & Inventory Monitoring Track consumption patterns, wastage, and stock levels; ensure reconciliation post-order completion.
• Supply Expedition Monitor production at steel mills, expedite supplies, track shipments to meet manufacturing production schedules.
• Competency Development Build relevant knowledge of pipe-making processes to independently manage raw material procurement.
• Advisory Role to Mktg Provide raw material and consumable price insights to marketing for preparing tenders/Bids

• Import Procurement : Knowledge of Import Sourcing is must.
• Strategic Sourcing Ability to identify, evaluate, and develop supplier networks.
• Negotiation & Cost Management – Strong skills in vendor negotiations and cost control.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Effective coordination across technical, financial, and production teams.
• Analytical Thinking – Capability to monitor consumption, wastage, and reconcile inventory.
• Industry Knowledge – Understanding of steel procurement, API/DNV Grades and pipe-making processes.
• Leadership & Advisory – Ability to guide teams and provide market intelligence to management.
• Problem-Solving – Quick decision-making to prevent production stoppages.
• Conversant in SAP - SAP HANA/MM Module
