Database Architect

Role & responsibilities

• Design and lead enterprise database architectures across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Define scalable, secure, highly available, and cost-effective database solutions.
• Lead database migration, modernization, consolidation, and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Develop HLD/LLD, architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation roadmaps.
• Design HA/DR, backup, recovery, replication, RPO/RTO, and business continuity strategies.
• Drive database performance tuning, capacity planning, scalability, and optimization.
• Establish database security, governance, monitoring, and compliance standards.
• Design integrations with APIs, microservices, enterprise applications, and cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with Cloud, DevOps, Security, Data Engineering, Application, and Enterprise Architecture teams.
• Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, mentoring, and resolution of complex database issues.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in database engineering, DBA, database architecture, or solution architecture.
• Strong expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar databases.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or OCI database services.
• Proven experience with database migration, modernization, HA/DR, replication, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
• Strong knowledge of Always On, Data Guard, GoldenGate, AWS DMS, Azure Database Migration Service, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python/PowerShell, CI/CD, Git, and DevOps.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, APIs, database security, IAM/RBAC, and monitoring.
• Strong understanding of HLD/LLD, enterprise architecture, governance, scalability, and cloud cost optimization.
• Excellent technical leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Terraform certifications are an advantage.
