The Data Architect is responsible for designing and optimizing enterprise database architectures with a focus on performance, scalability, reliability, and cloud adoption.
The role evaluates existing database designs, analyzes application data access patterns and performance metrics, and defines architectural solutions that improve database efficiency and support business growth.
The architect provides technical leadership for AWS RDS SQL Server and AWS PostgreSQL environments, establishes database architecture standards, and collaborates with application, infrastructure, and engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing data platforms.
The role also leverages AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity and solution quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and govern enterprise database architectures and performance optimization strategies.
Analyze existing database designs, application data access patterns, and performance reports to identify improvement opportunities.
Define best practices for database design, indexing, partitioning, query optimization, and scalability.
Design and review cloud database solutions on AWS RDS SQL Server and AWS PostgreSQL.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and engineering teams on database modernization and cloud transformation initiatives.
Establish database architecture standards, governance, security, and operational best practices.
Review performance metrics and recommend improvements for reliability, scalability, and cost optimization.
Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentoring to engineering teams.
Utilize AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot, to accelerate solution design, scripting, and documentation.

Database modernization and cloud migration

High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)
AWS certifications or equivalent cloud architecture experience

Experience & Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
8 12+ years of experience in database engineering, database architecture, or enterprise data architecture.
Proven experience designing and optimizing enterprise database platforms on AWS.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead architectural decisions across cross-functional teams.
