Job Description

Data & Business Analyst

Job Description

About the Role

We're hiring a Data & Business Analyst to turn complex subscription, marketing, and customer data into the insights and dashboards that drive real business decisions. This is a senior, high-ownership role you'll build the analytical backbone behind subscriber growth, churn reduction, and revenue strategy, working directly with leadership on recurring reporting and one-off deep dives, while also helping define the broader data framework for the self-serve subscriber lifecycle.

Key Skills

Tableau • SQL • Funnel Analysis • Campaign Analysis • Churn Analysis • Cohort Analysis • Data Pipelines • Predictive Modeling • Segmentation • ETL • Excel • Data Visualization • Stakeholder Management • KPI Development • Subscription Analytics • Revenue Analytics • Python

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Infrastructure & Pipelines

  • Work with data across different pipelines (Excel, SQL, APIs, ETL/ELT tools) to extract and unify data across CRM, CDP, billing/payment platforms, email systems, and web analytics

2. Analysis & Modeling

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities across the subscriber base
  • Run funnel analysis across the acquisition and conversion journey, identifying drop-off points and opportunities to improve conversion
  • Analyze subscriber trends and separate real signal from noise (e.g., billing-cycle timing effects, seasonal spikes)
  • Build and monitor churn models — first-month and long-term/retention churn — tracking performance against reduction targets
  • Perform cohort and segmentation analysis (plan tier, geography, tenure, acquisition channel, behavior) to uncover usage patterns and account-mix shifts over time
  • Build predictive models (churn, LTV, segmentation, engagement scoring)
  • Own Tableau dashboards and reporting layers used in recurring leadership/pipeline reviews, designed for both operational and executive audiences
  • Monitor subscriber health metrics on an ongoing basis and proactively flag risks or opportunities to leadership

3. Business Partnership & Strategy

  • Gather and translate ambiguous business questions from stakeholders in Marketing, Product, Finance, Sales, and Customer Success into clear analytical frameworks and measurable KPIs (conversion rate, churn, ARPU, LTV, expansion/contraction revenue)
  • Bridge the gap between technical data teams and business users — ensuring analysis is rigorous and accessible
  • Present executive-ready narratives that explain not just what changed, but why
  • Partner with Sales, Product, and Marketing to validate whether the business is trending on-plan or needs course correction, and to surface insights that inform roadmap and campaign strategy
  • Support competitive and market benchmarking of subscription and campaign performance

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who leads with curiosity and lets the data do the talking. The right candidate doesn't just build reports — they ask the next question, spot what the numbers are trying to say, and turn that into something the business can act on.

  • Data-driven by default — backs recommendations with evidence, comfortable challenging assumptions when the data points elsewhere
  • Intellectually curious and self-directed — proactively explores the subscriber base for stories that haven't been asked for yet
  • Detail-oriented without losing the big picture
  • A clear communicator who can translate complex or ambiguous analysis into structured frameworks and plain language for non-technical and senior audiences
  • Collaborative and commercially aware — connects work explicitly to revenue, retention, and customer outcomes
  • Comfortable with ambiguity — able to scope and prioritize in a fast-moving environment
  • Consistent and dependable — delivers on time, flags blockers early, owns outputs from first pull to final presentation

Requirements

  • 4+ years in a data analysis, business analysis, or analytics role, ideally in a SaaS, ESP, or subscription-based business
  • Strong, hands-on Tableau expertise — dashboard design, not just consumption (required)
  • Strong SQL skills — comfortable extracting and joining data across multiple systems/APIs
  • Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis, manipulation, and reporting
  • Proven experience with funnel analysis, churn/retention analysis, and cohort/segmentation work
  • Experience building predictive models (churn, LTV, or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing subscription or customer lifecycle data (churn, conversion, LTV, cohort retention, ARPU)
  • Experience working with CRM, CDP, email marketing, or web analytics platforms and their underlying data structures
  • Proven ability to produce executive-ready reporting and present findings to business stakeholders
  • Experience defining KPIs and analytical frameworks in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with data governance and quality practices in a reporting context
  • Excellent stakeholder communication — able to translate vague business asks into structured analysis

Nice to Have

  • Experience in subscription billing/revenue analytics, or having worked through multiple payment/billing platform transitions
  • Experience working within or alongside an Email Service Provider (ESP) or marketing technology platform
  • Exposure to self-serve SaaS subscription models — billing events, plan tiers, trial mechanics, churn patterns
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar CRM platforms
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Amplitude, or similar product/web analytics tools
  • Working knowledge of Python or R for data manipulation and analysis
  • Exposure to marketing attribution models and funnel analytics
  • Experience with A/B test analysis or experiment design
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted analytics tools or workflow automation concepts
  • Prior experience in a global, cross-functional team environment across multiple regions and time zones
