Job Overview
The Cybersecurity Specialist & IT Engineer will be responsible for securing and maintaining the organizations IT infrastructure while providing hands-on technical support across systems, networks, and end-user devices. This role combines cybersecurity operations with day-to-day IT management to ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of organizational technology assets. The ideal candidate will proactively monitor and respond to security threats, troubleshoot technical issues, and support continuous technology improvements and cybersecurity readiness.
Key Responsibilities Cybersecurity Monitoring & Incident Response- Monitor network traffic, endpoints, and security alerts to identify and respond to potential cyber threats and incidents.
- Investigate security breaches, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop, maintain, and execute incident response procedures and recovery plans.
- Configure and manage security solutions such as firewalls, antivirus software, IDS/IPS, and SIEM tools.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and regular security audits.
- Ensure timely patch management, system updates, and security hardening.
- Install, configure, repair, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems, and network-related issues.
- Respond to support tickets and resolve technical incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Provide remote and on-site technical support during outages or downtime.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, access controls, and identity management systems.
- Assist with network setup, connectivity troubleshooting, and device configuration.
- Maintain inventory records of IT assets and document recurring issues and resolutions.
- Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 27001.
- Conduct security awareness training and educate employees on cybersecurity best practices.
- Evaluate organizational security risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Prepare security reports, metrics, and documentation for management review.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security best practices into infrastructure and system designs.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for IT and security-related requirements.
- Communicate technical issues, risks, and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support organizational initiatives related to technology improvements and cybersecurity readiness.
- Bachelor s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT support, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity tools and technologies, including SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus solutions, and endpoint protection.
- Good knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, operating systems, and IT infrastructure.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and network environments.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux administration, patch management, and system maintenance.
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python, PowerShell, or Bash is an advantage.
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and industry best practices.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications are preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset with strong customer support capabilities.
- Willingness to work on-call or outside regular business hours when required.
- Commitment to supporting both cybersecurity operations and general IT support functions.
