About Us
Coal India Limited (CIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Coal, is the world's largest coal producer. Established in November 1975 and based in Kolkata, CIL operates in 82 mining areas across eight Indian states through its seven subsidiary companies (six wholly-owned and one jointly-owned). CIL sustains its operational strength through an extensive training network. This network includes 12 Management Training Institutes and 76 Vocational Training Institutes. The Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), a specialized management training institute under CIL, provides advanced training to executives from CIL and its subsidiaries. This ensures a skilled and efficient workforce capable of maintaining CIL's leadership in the global coal industry, promoting operational excellence, and contributing significantly to India's energy security. CIL's comprehensive structure and commitment to training are crucial to its success.
